Regular Membership is available to all Illinois Fire Protection Districts in the state. Newly formed districts receive membership for the first year at no charge. Associate Membership is available to fire service and industry related product and service suppliers.
Fire Protection District Membership
Information and Guidance - A full-time staff and office in Springfield for the purpose of assisting member districts with information and answers to frequently asked questions.
Legislative Representation - The IAFPD legislative team educates the General Assembly on our issues, introduces, tracks and monitors all legislative activity at the Capitol.
Annual Conference - The annual conference offers top notch education for fire and pension board trustees, fire chiefs, administrative personnel and attorneys that covers all aspects of governance and administration. The annual conference also showcases 70 exhibitors and entertaining social events.
Regional Training - Administration Training Sessions are held throughout the state during (January-March) and serve as a convenient and affordable review on recent developments with legal and legislative matters that directly impact the fire protection districts administration.
The Fire Call - The official quarterly publication of the IAFPD, The Fire Call magazine provides articles written by experienced attorneys, useful and timely information from state agencies, pension, insurance and legislative news and other announcements of interest to Fire Protection Districts.
Publications - Deemed the essentials for every trustee, the IAFPD publishes two books: The Text of Laws Relating to Illinois Fire Protection Districts and State Fire Marshal and Handbook For Trustees of Illinois Fire Protection Districts. Both are updated regularly available for purchase at discounted pricing for members.
Legal Advice - The Association Counsel is a tremendous legal resource for the attorneys serving member districts.
Scholarships - The IAFPD has a separate 501c3 organization (The IAFPD Foundation) that offers financial assistance for students residing in a member district and enrolled in a fire related curriculum and new trustees who need training but have financial constraints hindering their opportunity to attend the annual conference.

As an Associate Member, your company or organization is placed on our mailing list to receive all publications and communications of the Association including The Fire Call magazine, legislative news, program announcements and other information to keep you connected with developments concerning fire districts.
Associate members have a listing in the online business directory and recognized in two other printed publications produced annually. Associate members are invited and encouraged to attend and meet fire district representatives by supporting, participating and attending educational programs, conferences and special events coordinated by the IAFPD.
Associate Members are invited to advertise in The Fire Call at affordable rates with a distribution greater than 3,000 officials among the Illinois fire service.
