​Continuing Trustee Education (CTE)
​​ CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT (CE)
CE programs are presented annually in four locations throughout the state between January and March. Trustees who have completed the 3-Part Essential Trustee Training (ETT) in compliance with PA 95-0799 in 2024 or before have until the end of 2025 to meet the yearly three hour continuing education requirement.  Attendance at a Continued Trustee Education  has been approved by the Office of the State Fire Marshal and will meet the continuing education requirement for 2025.

Trustees are responsible for retaining their training records and submitting  their training hours to their districts. Members can log in and view their IAFPD training records here.

Join us as our speakers delve into the expanding responsibilities and challenges faced by fire protection district trustees in today's landscape, as well as recent legislative and regulatory changes from the General Assembly and regulatory agencies like IDPH and IL OSHA. Staying informed about the latest trends in the governance and management of fire protection districts and departments is crucial to successfully accomplish your mission as a fire protection district trustee, chief, or administrator. Participants will gain insights into the latest updates on FOIA and OMA, and will receive valuable information and resources that can be immediately applied to effectively manage your district's mission in 2025!"


WHO SHOULD ATTEND?  Both new and experienced fire protection district officials, including trustees, fire chiefs, and attorneys will benefit from these programs.

CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS (CE) Trustees who have completed the 3-Part Essential Trustee Training (ETT) in compliance with PA 95-0799 in 2023 or before have until the end of 2024 to meet the three-hour continuing education requirement.  Attendance at an IAFPD Continuing Trustee Education Session is approved by the Office of the State Fire Marshal and meets the requirement for 2024.

Continuing Trustee Education Sessions are held each year January through April. We encourage your suggestions for locations. If your fire protection district would like to be considered to host a session and you can comfortably seat 75 attendees please get in touch!
ONLINE PROGRAMS
Web-based Programs  bring training to you and allows you to earn Continuing Education credits. Whether you need to brush up on material you have gained at previous training sessions, or you would like to earn additional CE, we hope that you will take advantage of this convenient and affordable platform.
