Advanced Trustee Training
In addition to providing trustees with the information needed to meet the challenges of administering a fire district, the ATT Program is 3-part legal training that allows additional compensation for paid trustees who complete the program under Public Act 95-0799. Each part of the training is 4 hours in length. Trustees who have completed all three parts will be mailed a completion certificate signed by the OSFM.
ATT Part 1 - Fire District Organization & Administration
Resources, Statutes, Regulations, Court Decisions, Governance, Powers & Duties, Ordinances, Policies, Annexation,
Consolidation or Disconnection issues
ATT Part 2 - Finances, Procurement, Legal Liability
Tax Levy, Budget & Appropriation Process, Financial Reports, Equipment Acquisition, Bidding, Fire Station Construction, Legal Liability
ATT Part 3 - Personnel & Human Resources
Volunteer & Full Time Personnel Categories, Hiring Issues, Training Requirements, Background Checks, Promotions, At Will Employment, Discipline & Discharge, Employment Laws, Pensions
All three parts of this 12 hour course will be presented based on the needs of our members.
CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT (CE)
Trustees who have completed the 3-Part Advanced Trustee Training (ATT) in compliance with PA 95-0799 in 2018 or before have until the end of 2019 to meet the yearly three hour continuing education requirement. Attendance at an Administration Training Session has been approved by the Office of the State Fire Marshal and will meet the continuing education requirement for 2019.
