Advanced Trustee Training

The IAFPD announces that as part of the implementation of PA 95-799 (effective 1/01/09) a 3-Part Advanced Trustee Training Program is being offered at various locations throughout the state.  The IAFPD Program under PA-95-0799, which allows additional compensation for paid trustees who complete the program, has been approved by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.   The program curriculum covers Organization and Administration (Part 1) Finances, Procurement and Legal Liability (Part 2) and Personnel and Human Resources (Part 3). Each part is 4 hour in length and may run longer when held in conjunction with another event.

The Advanced Trustee Training program highly recommends the following course materials as they are referenced throughout the session.  1) Handbook for Trustees 2012 Edition, 2) Text of Laws/2012 Edition and 3) The Modern Rules of Order.

If you own these books, plan to bring them to the training.  If you need to purchase one or more of the publications, you may do at the time you register for the session, place an online order at the IAFPD Store or by the IAFPD office 800-524-6620.

Trustees who have completed all three parts will be mailed a completion certificate signed by the OSFM to the address IAFPD has on file. These individuals have until the end of the following calendar year (Dec. 31, 2012) to meet the continued education requirement which is 3 hours new legal training. Approved sessions that meet the continued education requirement include: IAFPD Administration Training Sessions held throughout the state January-March, select sessions at the NIAFPD conference Feb. 7-9 in Lombard and the IAFPD conference to be held June 20-22 in Springfield.
